LGBTQ+ Therapy

Helping Individuals in Oak Park, Illinois & Through Online Therapy in South Carolina

I have worked to be an ally/accomplice to the LGBTQ+ community since I was a feisty teenager growing up in the suburbs of Chicago.

Queer people have always been an enormous part of my personal and professional life. I passionately believe that our world is better because of the existence of queer people.

Let’s be real – even in a big city, sometimes you aren’t sure if your medical provider is going to have any clue about your lived experience. Maybe you’ve even had to educate your own doctor (or therapist, eek) about aspects of your identity or health needs. My hope and my goal is that you won’t have to do that here. I make every effort to be as informed, educated, and aware of LGBTQ+ experiences as I can for someone who does not have lived experience as a member of this community. I regularly seek paid consultation (particularly with trans and gender expansive colleagues), ongoing continuing education, and pursue intersectional social justice causes outside of the therapy room.

I have a particular passion for supporting transgender and gender expansive clients. In 2015, I was working with children and adolescents in a community health setting and quickly saw the importance of gender affirming/informed care with this population. I pursued all the continuing education, consultation, experience, and training I could get my hands on. I began working with adults shortly after and haven’t stopped since. I love working with clients who are actively exploring their gender identity, pursuing transition in any capacity, or just want to work with a therapist that can provide a trans-informed approach to other types of treatment goals.

I also understand that sometimes you want to work with a therapist that identifies in the community. I GET that and I support you 100%. In fact, if you’d like help connecting with a queer identified therapist, drop me an email and I’ll be glad to provide a referral – no questions asked.
